FWPFGM3216 – Fell trees manually (intermediate)

Course Overview

This course includes the outcomes required to assess, plan and safely carry out manual tree-felling operations using a chainsaw. This course covers the felling procedures for trees with a level of complexity that requires significant tree assessment and practical felling skills. Persons assessed as competent in this unit should be able to effectively fell most trees except very large trees and/or those with significant defects and/or characteristics that cause excessive complexity. This course applies to felling trees that have a diameter greater than the bar length of the chainsaw.

Who is this course designed for?
This course is designed for all personnel supervising and carrying out the felling of large and/or hazardous trees. Generally trees with trunk diameters >80cm DBH & >40m in height.

Entry requirements:
It is advantageous for candidates to have already completed:

Chainsaws Level 1 and 2
First Aid Level 2 or equivalent
12-18 mths (250 hours) of regular chainsaw operational experience.
